How is That Working For Ya

Hello there, VivBounty here to share with you some insight about
changing your mindset. I am a firm believer that everything happens
for a reason and if you pay attention, you will be led to the next
logical step in your divine plan. Then you have to take a leap of
faith and act on what you have just learned because knowing is not enough.

For example, I was attending Mass one day recently singing one of my
favorite hymns, Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace, which is based on
the St. Francis of Assisi Prayer, Lord, Let Me Be An Instrument Of
Thy Peace. My friend was sitting beside me, and as we sung we turned
to each other and smiled. I shared with her that this hymn always
gives me goose bumps as we sang it in school when I was a child and
the prayer was our school prayer. In primary four, which is the
forth year of elementary school, I was chosen to lead whole school
the assembly on the microphone in reciting the prayer. It was such a
proud and spiritual moment for me that I was moved to tears.
My friend replied that she is reading a book based on the prayer by
Wayne W. Dyer. She then lent me the book, There’s a Spiritual Solution
To Every Problem and I could not put it down!

That week I got an email from a cousin who was going through some
trying times so I offered her the title of the book and let her know
how affirming it was for me to re-discover as an adult the truths
that made St. Francis write that prayer that are just as relevant today
as they were centuries ago.

She had been meaning to reply when watching TV the
next day she saw a trailer for Wayne Dyer’s new book, Wishes
Fulfilled a PBS special. She recognized his name from my email and
immediately composed her reply seeing it as a divine sign to write me.
In her words, “God said, ‘Now!'”, so she alerted me to the 3-hour
television special airing the following day.

Wayne began his talk by sharing this delightful poem by the late
Portia Nelson, A popular singer; songwriter and actress. I was so
riveted by his presentation that I phoned my sister who after all
my gushing, bought me the book for my birthday.
To say it has been life-changing would be a huge understatement!
This poem has appeared in our church bulletin this week three
months after I first heard of it and so since I’m to take heed as
it keeps cropping up, I’m certain someone in my sphere must need
to read it too and have decided to share it with you here:

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
By Portia Nelson

Chapter One

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost …. I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter Three

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit … but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter Four

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter Five

I walk down another street.

I heard once that instead of digging up your yard looking for a plumbing leak from the curb stop to your house it is easier to just lay a new pipe.

I have also often heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting to get a different result each time. explains ~

So it just makes sense that to improve your situation, change your luck, manifest
your dream, whatever words you use to describe a shift, it is hugely important to examine your thoughts and habits. Thoughts send out vibrations, become things and manifest your destiny. The universe matches your vibration and brings you exactly what you focus on.

If you need some simple tips on how to change your stars to make your life
exactly the way you would love it to be check out Wayne W. Dyer’s book,
Wishes Fulfilled in the side bar here.

Focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want. Notice the
holes in the sidewalk, change your route, lay a new pipe.

If you want something in your life you’ve never had, do something you’ve never done.

~ JD Houston.

Hi Viv! I love the peaceful feeling here on your blog! When I read “Focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want.” above, I remembered first learning that in 1991 from “Abraham” (channeled by Esther Hicks;, whose teachings I very actively studied ’til 1997. We probably also have that teacher in common. I’m so happy to have e-met you! xox

    • Hi Biz. Thank you so much for your sweet comment. I too am very happy to have met you. How thoroughly appropriate that you bring up Abraham-Hicks. I discovered and subscribed to the teachings of Abraham beginning in 1997 and still have many of the recordings and readings in my library. We must certainly have a teacher in common. It is my great pleasure to have finally physically connected with you at this juncture as we must surely have made a pact to do so long, long ago. Love and Light, Viv
